Natter Unveils Natalie at Gartner HR Symposium: The Enterprise AI Voice Agent for Employee Listening

Developed with Accenture, based on input from 50 CHROs and HR leaders, Natalie is a conversational agent designed to capture the “why” and the “what now” behind traditional survey results. For decades, employee listening has involved a fundamental trade-off: surveys give you scale, but conversations give you understanding. You could survey everyone, or genuinely listen to a few. Never both. What if you could ask every employee why your transformation isn’t working? What’s preventing AI adoption? Why your best people are leaving? What leadership doesn’t understand about the realities of working in your organization? And what if you could understand their answers, explore the reasons behind them, and bring that intelligence directly into the boardroom? That’s what we built Natalie to do.

A conversation with every employee

Natalie holds spoken, one-to-one conversations with employees in 35 languages. Natalie is available 24/7, all year round, with no interviews to schedule and no focus groups to coordinate.

But Natalie isn’t a traditional AI interviewer working through predefined questions. Natalie is a conversational agent. Give Natalie a prompt, such as understanding why employees are leaving, and Natalie intelligently guides each conversation towards that goal.

If someone mentions a lack of trust in leadership, Natalie explores why. If that reveals an unexpected issue with their manager, a recent organizational change, or something unique to their team, Natalie follows that thread. The conversation probes deeper and deeper, without sacrificing employee trust or anonymity.

Every conversation is different, shaped by what each individual has to say. Leaders don’t receive feedback and problems, they receive conversationally-sourced actions and solutions. And Natalie can do this with thousands of employees simultaneously.

Built with the industry

Earlier this year, we brought together 50 CHROs and HR leaders to explore the future of employee listening. 60% independently raised the same concern: periodic surveys were too blunt and too slow. They wanted listening to feel like a conversation, not another survey. And they set three conditions: it must be voluntary, anonymous, and have a clear purpose.

We built Natalie around those principles, co-designing the technology with Accenture.

Pre-launch, 50 organizations have already used Natalie, collectively generating:

  • 12,000 employee conversations
  • 10 million words of employee feedback
  • 1,300 hours of spoken insight

And employees want to take part. When co-designing Natalie with Accenture, 85% of invited employees chose to participate, and 91% wanted to speak with Natalie again.

At Thoughtworks, Natalie achieved an employee Net Promoter Score of +70.

When was the last time you completed an employee survey and felt strongly enough about the experience to recommend it to someone else?

In a previous research study, 100% of participants felt more psychologically safe sharing candid views in AI-led one-to-one conversations than through traditional methods, and 82% said the conversations led to new or unexpected reflections.

From employee conversations to better decisions

More conversations are only the start. The value lies in what organizations discover, and what they do next.

At Accenture: understanding employee attrition

Accenture Operations wanted to understand the drivers of attrition across a workforce of more than 80,000 people in India.

Managers were already conducting regular one-to-ones, but analyzing responses manually at that scale was slow and inconsistent.

Together, we co-designed Natalie to explore employees’ experiences in depth, beginning with a single opening question and dynamically following each individual’s responses.

Natalie identified additional attrition signals the existing process had missed, while reducing analysis and flagging time by 83%.

The result was deeper insight into employee concerns, recommended actions for leaders, and more time for managers to focus on coaching their people.

“It genuinely felt like a safe space to bounce ideas without any fear of judgment. Overall, the experience felt supportive, non-judgmental, and genuinely helpful, more like a thoughtful thinking partner than a tool.” - Accenture Managing Director, India

At Thoughtworks: bringing employees into the CEO’s strategic vision

When Thoughtworks’ CEO developed a new strategic vision, Natalie enabled employees to discuss it in their own words.

Thousands of minutes of conversation were synthesized to help leadership understand how well employees interpreted the vision, how effectively they could action it in line with their own priorities, and where perspectives might differ.

Thoughtworks also used Natalie to involve employees directly in shaping the organization’s culture.

This is employee listening as participation, giving people a voice in the decisions shaping their organization’s future.

From thousands of conversations to boardroom intelligence. Instantly.

Natalie has the conversations. Natter turns them into intelligence.

Natter’s AI identifies recurring themes, the reasons behind them, and where experiences differ across teams, regions and roles.

Leaders receive actionable insights, supported where permitted by verified employee quotations. When someone in the boardroom asks “how do we know?”, the answer is right there.

And it happens fast.

In one Natalie prompt, employees shared more words through Natalie than the entire Lord of the Rings trilogy. Gathering and analyzing that volume of feedback manually could take months. Natter processed it into structured intelligence in a matter of minutes. Prompt Natalie on Tuesday and walk into Wednesday morning’s meeting with every employee’s input synthesized.

Traditional surveys will always be invaluable for measuring sentiment and tracking change. Natalie complements them by answering the question that so often follows: we know something is happening, but why? And what should we do about it?

As Tracey Patterson, Managing Director, Talent Reinvention at Accenture, puts it:

“This is what the next era of employee voice looks like, dynamic, intelligent, and deeply human. We’re now able to bring real employee intelligence into the boardroom, not in months, but in hours.”

Built for the enterprise from day one

Four years of building Natter for some of the world’s largest organizations have shaped Natalie, with enterprise requirements at its core:

  • Employee choice and anonymity: Voluntary participation, configurable anonymity thresholds, automated personal data redaction and quotation controls.
  • Responsible AI: Ongoing testing across 22 AI safety dimensions and 61 scenarios. A commitment that employee data and outputs can never be used to train AI models.
  • Security and compliance: ISO 27001 certification, UK/EU GDPR compliance and EU AI Act alignment.
  • Enterprise-approved: Cleared through security review at global banks, Big Four firms and the world’s largest consultancies.
  • Fast to deploy: Security and procurement onboarding averages 26 days. Once completed, Natalie can be used by the entire organization the same day.
  • Data residency: Geographic hosting options, including US-only processing.

Natter is backed by $23 million from Kindred Capital, Renegade Partners and Costanoa Ventures, alongside the founders of Peakon, Indeed and Beamery.
