Miro partnered with Natter to discover what employees really think of AI

The Challenge

Miro leads the way in online visual collaboration, enabling teams of all sizes to work together faster and more efficiently. 

Miro invests heavily in product innovation, collaboration, and holds a deep commitment to internal transformation, both in working processes and their use of technology.

Reflecting Miro’s core behaviours of "listen first, talk second" and "launch fast and iterate" they use MiroHears - their active employee listening brand - to invite their distributed global workforce (spread across 12 regional hubs and 8 timezones) to co-create transformational projects, provide feedback and share ideas for implementation.

Sam Valentine, Miro’s Employee Experience Lead and owner of the MiroHears project, was tasked with uncovering how prepared Miro employees feel for the arrival of AI. 

In addition, they wanted to give Mironeers across different locations and functions a chance to explore the opportunities and barriers they perceive to greater adoption of AI within the organization. 

His team had access to traditional surveying tools, but the project needed more than a form to keep up with their AI project’s pace of development.

The Solution

Natter allowed 400+ Mironeers to simultaneously connect in colleague-to-colleague video conversations, to discuss areas of opportunity and their concerns around internal use of AI.

In only 42 minutes of conversation, Natter generated 3,550 qualitative data points, and summarised them in real-time into hundreds of actionable insights, broken down into 12 key themes.

This speed-to-insight enabled the Miro team to rapidly respond to specific concerns around AI in the workplace, informing subsequent hackathons, establishing pilots and success criteria for AI tools and building internal action plans in lockstep with the rapid development of Miro’s internal AI rollout.
